Doha, June 19 (QNA) - The Ministry of Culture (MOC) announced the opening of registration for the second edition of the international calligraphy competition "Akhlaq Award," inviting calligraphers and creatives from around the world.
The competition aims to revive traditional Arabic calligraphy while highlighting the value of good ethics as a central theme. Submissions will be accepted until Sunday, November 1, 2026.
The award seeks to promote cultural values, preserve classical Arabic calligraphy heritage, enhance artistic appreciation, and support global creatives in exchanging skills and experiences.
Participants, inside and outside Qatar, must master authentic Arabic calligraphy rules and submit only one artwork selected from approved texts.
Entries must be submitted electronically (minimum 600 DPI) without signatures or identifying marks. Winners of the top three prizes in the first edition are not eligible to participate.
The competition requires traditional inks and paper, with specific technical standards, and will focus on Thuluth script styles across its stages. The Ministry also confirmed that valuable cash prizes will be awarded to winners. (QNA)
