2026 World Cup Transport Supervisor Abdullah Al Khater Says Qatar Set Benchmark Standards in World Cup Organization
Vancouver, June 19 (QNA) - Abdullah Al Khater, Transport Operations Supervisor at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, said Qatar established new organizational standards during its hosting of the 2022 World Cup, which have become a global reference for managing major events.
When Qatar hosted the 2022 World Cup, Al Khater added, the goal was not only to deliver a successful tournament, but also to set foundational standards for event management that future host countries could benefit from.
He explained that he is transferring Qatar's experience to the 2026 tournament by overseeing the movement of fans, teams, officials, and staff between hotels, training sites, and stadiums, as well as integrating stadiums with Vancouver's public transport network.
To be tasked today with transferring this expertise and working alongside the organizers of the 2026 edition to help overcome challenges, he added, reflects what Qatar has achieved and the level we continue to maintain.
Al Khater continued that when people there learn he is from Qatar, the first thing that comes to mind is the 2022 World Cup. Carrying this legacy and representing the efficiency and capabilities of his country on a global stage is a great source of pride for me.
He noted that working in the same stadium where Qatar's national team played makes the experience especially meaningful, stressing that welcoming Al Annabi fans and ensuring their smooth arrival gives him a sense of pride that will stay with him for a long time.
He also highlighted his experience during the 2022 World Cup at Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, where he managed the movement of tens of thousands of fans, noting that Qatar's transport system successfully served more than 26.8 million passengers during the tournament.
He concluded that Qatar's experience helped establish new standards for organizing major sporting events. This legacy should not only be preserved but built upon and proven again, which is what we are doing today at the 2026 World Cup. (QNA)
