UN Secretary-General Condemns Israeli Strikes on Beirut
New York, June 14 (QNA) - UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres strongly condemned the Israeli strikes on the Lebanese capital Beirut on Sunday.
In a statement, Guterres said that these strikes occurred despite the ceasefire, and at a time when the United States and Iran are expected to reach an agreement that paves the way for a peaceful resolution to this conflict.
He indicated that he strongly hopes that the current efforts to sign an agreement between the United States and Iran will be successful.
Lebanese authorities announced earlier today that one person was killed and four others were injured in an Israeli airstrike on the southern suburbs of Beirut.
The United States recently announced that Lebanon and Israel had reached a ceasefire agreement following the conclusion of a fourth round of talks between their negotiators in Washington, but the Israeli forces continue their aggression against large areas of Lebanese territory. (QNA)
