Cairo, May 17 (QNA) - The Arab League condemned the drone attack targeting the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates, considering this blatant aggression a highly dangerous escalation to the security of the entire region and a flagrant violation of international law and the norms governing the protection of civilian nuclear facilities.

In a statement on Sunday, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed his satisfaction with the UAE Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation's confirmation that the fire that broke out near the nuclear plant did not affect the plant's safety or radiation levels.

The Secretary-General affirmed the Arab League's solidarity with the UAE in all measures it takes to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability, and to protect its interests and resources. (QNA)
