Doha, May 16 (QNA) - Qatar's national bowling team enjoyed another successful day at the 4th Gulf Games Doha 2026 after claiming four medals - one gold, two silvers and one bronze - during the penultimate day of bowling competition.

In the all-events standings, Qatari bowlers dominated the podium ahead of competitors from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Kuwait.

Bader Khaled Al Sada secured the gold medal after finishing first overall with a total of 5,009 points accumulated across the singles, doubles, trios and team events.

Jassim Al Marikhi claimed the silver medal with 4,995 points, while Talal Al Mari captured bronze after recording a total of 4,896 points.

The medals were presented by Salman Abdullah Abdul Ghani, Honorary President of the Qatar Bowling Federation, alongside Salem Ahmed Al Marzouqi, member of the federation's board of directors.

In the team competition, Qatar earned the silver medal through the squad comprising Talal Al Mari, Abdulrahman Al Dosari, Bader Al Sada, Jassim Al Marikhi, Abdullah Al Dosari and Ahmed Al Darwish.

The Qatari team finished with 5,719 points, narrowly behind Saudi Arabia, which claimed gold with 5,735 points, while the United Arab Emirates took bronze with 5,650 points.

The team medals were presented by Vice President of the UAE Bowling Federation, Salah Al Jaeedi and board member of the Qatar Bowling Federation, Saeed Al Hajri.

Secretary-General of the Qatar Bowling Federation, voiced satisfaction with the national team's achievements during the Gulf Games after collecting four medals in the all-events and team competitions.

Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Shafi praised the high level displayed by the Qatari bowlers throughout the tournament and said the performances reflected the extensive work carried out by the federation as well as the technical and administrative staff in recent months.

"In today's team competition, we came very close to winning the gold medal, but what we achieved remains an important accomplishment and a source of pride, especially given the strong competition among the Gulf teams," Al Shafi said.

He added that Qatar's bowling team has so far collected two gold medals, three silvers and two bronzes since the start of the tournament, describing the tally as confirmation that the team has largely achieved its objectives at the event.

Al Shafi also praised the organization of the Gulf Games, noting that participating delegations had commended Qatar's hospitality and event management.

"Qatar has always delivered tournaments at the highest standards, and we have not received any negative remarks throughout the competition," he said.

Looking ahead, Al Shafi outlined Qatar's upcoming international schedule, which includes participation in the World Youth Championship in Malaysia next month, the Asian Junior Championship in Jakarta in July, the Men's World Cup in Munich in September, and the Asian Championship, which Qatar will host in November.

He concluded by describing the current Gulf Games as an important stage in the national team's preparations for the upcoming continental and international competitions, expressing confidence in the players' ability to continue achieving positive results and representing Qatar strongly on the global stage.
