Doha, May 16 (QNA) - Qatar's athletics team added five more medals to its tally on Friday, winning two golds and three silvers during the third day of track and field competitions at Suheim bin Hamad Stadium, as part of the 4th Gulf Games Doha 2026.
The multi-sport event continues through May 22 and features the participation of 1,400 athletes representing six Gulf nations across 17 different sports.
Qatar's gold medals came through Abderrahman Samba in the men's 400m hurdles and Sara Ali in the women's 400m hurdles.
Bassem Hemeida claimed silver in the men's 400m hurdles, while Samar Mansouri secured silver in the women's triple jump event.
Qatar also captured silver in the mixed 4x400m relay through the quartet of Ammar Ibrahim, Ashraf Othman, Shahad Mohammed and Awatif Sabah.
For Sara Ali, the women's 400m hurdles title marked her second gold medal of the Games after previously winning the women's 100m hurdles on the opening day of competition.
Samar Mansouri also continued her strong performances at the Games, earning her second medal after winning gold in the pole vault on the second day.
With Friday's results, Qatar's athletics team increased its overall tally to 25 medals, comprising 10 golds, nine silvers and six bronzes.  Qatar's athletes will look to add further medals during the final day of athletics competition on Saturday, with key events including the 4x400m relay, discus throw, and the men's and women's 100m and 200m sprint races.
