Gulf Games Doha 2026: Qatar's Bashar Hussein Wins Silver in 9-Ball Singles
Doha, May 15 (QNA) - Qatari player Bashar Hussein claimed the silver medal in the 9-ball singles competition during the billiards and snooker events at the 4th Gulf Games Doha 2026 on Friday.
Bashar secured the silver medal after losing 6-8 in a closely contested final against UAE player Mahmoud Sharif. The match featured a high level of competitiveness and quality from both players.
The Qatari player reached the final following an impressive run through the tournament. He opened his campaign with a convincing 8-2 victory over Bahrain's Haider Ali Yaqoub before defeating Kuwait's Khalid Al Zarouni 8-5 in the next round.
In the semifinals, Bashar continued his strong form by overcoming Saudi Arabia's Abdulaziz Al Amoudi with an 8-6 win to book his place in the title match.
The 9-ball singles competition featured 10 players representing five Gulf nations - Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates - with each country entering two competitors. (QNA)
