Qatar Rail Launches Sunflower Program to Support Passengers with Hidden Disabilities
Doha, May 13 (QNA) - Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) has announced the launch of the Sunflower program across the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram networks.
The Sunflower program is a globally recognized initiative that uses a sunflower symbol as a discreet and voluntary way for passengers to indicate that they may have a hidden disability and could require additional support, more time, or clearer communication during their journey.
Reinforcing its commitment to providing an inclusive and accessible travel experience for all passengers, Qatar Rail said in a press release on Wednesday that the initiative is part of its ongoing efforts to elevate customer experience across its networks, building on the successful introduction of the Best Buddies program last year.
As a Sunflower-enabled transport network, Qatar Rail has integrated the program across key passenger touchpoints, including stations and onboard services, to ensure a consistent and supportive experience. Moreover, its customer service teams have undergone specialized training to recognize the Sunflower symbol and are well equipped to assist passengers with hidden disabilities with empathy, professionalism, and care.
Under its unifying "Every Journey Matters" umbrella, Qatar Rail continues to advance inclusive initiatives that ensure every customer can travel with dignity, confidence, and care. This approach reflects the company's ongoing commitment to social responsibility and aligns with its ESG priorities.
Additionally, in collaboration with its service provider RKH Qitarat company, Qatar Rail is exploring additional initiatives aimed at further enhancing accessibility and comfort for different passenger groups, as part of its ongoing efforts to provide a safe and trusted public transport system in the State of Qatar.
