HBKU Seminar Highlights Family Upbringing Challenges in Digital Age
Doha, May 13 (QNA) - A recent seminar in Doha has highlighted the growing challenges facing family upbringing in the digital age and the need for stronger cooperation between families, schools and institutions to support children's development.
The event, organized by the Minaretein Center at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) in partnership with the Doha International Family Institute, focused on key issues including the psychological and spiritual well-being of children, the impact of digital technology on family relationships, and the balance between cultural values and modern openness.
Speakers stressed that parenting today is no longer a spontaneous process, but one that requires awareness, updated tools and structured approaches to keep pace with rapid social change while preserving core values.
Experts also warned that social media and digital platforms have become major influences on children's beliefs and behavior, often rivaling the role of parents and schools in shaping identity.
The seminar underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation between families and educational institutions to protect students from behavioral risks and support their emotional and psychological well-being.
Officials pointed to national initiatives, including the Tanshia' (upbringing) program, as examples of coordinated efforts to promote positive youth development and improve student welfare across Qatar. (QNA)
