Jordan Reports Engaging 119 Missiles, Drones in One Week
Amman, March 07 (QNA) - The Jordanian Armed Forces announced that their air defenses engaged 119 missiles and drones that targeted Jordan over the course of a week following the eruption of the military escalation in the region.
Director of Military Media, Brig. Gen. Mustafa Al Hayari, highlighted during a press briefing on the events and figures related to the regional conflict that, out of 60 missiles and 59 drones, the Jordanian Air Force managed to intercept and destroy 108, while the air defenses were unable to intercept 11 rockets and drones.
Al Hayari noted that the missiles and drones were intended to target critical sites and facilities inside Jordanian territory, emphasizing that they were not crossing missiles, as had been circulated. He further explained that the interception of these missiles caused debris to fall in various regions across Jordan.
Al Hayari also outlined that the Jordanian Armed Forces have so far elevated the pre-war alertness level, placing all formations and units under immediate caution. Units deployed along the border fronts were supported, and Border Guard units were reinforced with the necessary equipment, weapons, and C5ISR technologies to handle exceptional conditions.
Air Defense Artillery systems were operated according to the ranges provided by those systems, while airspace surveillance was intensified using manned and unmanned aircraft as well as radar systems, he added.
He further noted that Jordan had implemented military and defense cooperation agreements with several sisterly and friendly militaries to provide air cover, enhancing the protection of Jordanian airspace. This was coordinated with the Jordanian Civil Aviation Authority to regulate aviation traffic and ensure airspace safety.
The Public Security Directorate announced that it had raised the alert level and activated emergency plans since the start of the military escalation, placing Civil Defense personnel on high alert. Its teams were responsible for sounding sirens and implementing precautionary measures to address any emergencies.
The Directorate clarified that civil defense and police personnel handled 187 reports of debris falling due to interceptions across most Jordanian provinces, including Amman, Irbid, Zarqa, Mafraq, Ma'an, Al-Karak, and the Badia regions.
The Directorate reported 14 injuries resulting from falling debris, most of them minor, with the injured receiving treatment and being discharged from hospitals. Damage was limited to material losses affecting some homes and vehicles. (QNA)
