Qatari Athletics Team Participates in Asian Indoor Championships Friday in China

Doha, February 5 (QNA) – The Qatari Athletics Team will begin their participation on Friday, in the 12th Asian Indoor Championships, being held in Tianjin, China, from Feb. 6 to 8. The championships will feature 400 athletes representing the continent.

The team will begin their participation in the championships, aiming for medals.

Runner Ibrahim Abbas will compete in the semifinals of the 800m race, while runner Zakaria Ibrahim will also compete in the semifinals of the 1500m race.

Runner Ammar Ismail will compete in the 400m race in the first heat, while his teammate Bassem Mohammed will compete in the same race in the second heat.

The organizing committee has decided that the competition will begin with the semifinals, with four heats in which the top two finishers will advance to the finals.

The Qatari national team are participating in the championship with a distinguished group of runners: Ammar Ismail and Bassem Mohammed in the 400m race, Ibrahim Abbas in the 800m race, Zakaria Ibrahim in the 1500m and 3000m races, the 4x400m relay team consisting of Mohammed Kala, Ashraf Osman, Yousef Abdulaziz, Khaled Hussein, and Ismail Dawood, and Omar Dawood in the 60m hurdles. Dana Salem will compete in the 60m freestyle, and her teammate Sara Shams will participate in the 60m hurdles.

The Qatari team aim to continue the success of Qatari athletics at the continental level by winning medals in the indoor championships, matching the success of Qatari athletics in the Asian Indoor Championships.

It is worth noting that the Qatari athletics team previously won first place in the sixth edition of the Asian Indoor Championships in Hangzhou, China, in 2014. (QNA)
