In this context, Jordanian political analyst and human rights adviser Dr. Riyad Al Subh stressed that the anticipated Geneva agreement should not be viewed as merely a temporary political understanding or a short-term settlement between two opposing parties, but rather as a strategic step that could contribute to reshaping the political and security environment in the Middle East in the coming years.
Al Subh told QNA that the region has suffered for decades from the repercussions of the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran, which have affected numerous regional issues and directly impacted security, stability, and opportunities for economic development.
He noted that any progress in relations between the two sides would have positive implications extending beyond the borders of the two countries to the region as a whole.
He added that the agreement carries exceptional significance because it comes at a time when the region is facing intertwined challenges and rapid developments that require greater coordination, dialogue, and the prioritization of shared interests.
He pointed out that its success could pave the way for addressing other outstanding issues and enhance prospects for building a more stable regional system capable of confronting future challenges.
Al Subh stressed that Qatar's role was a decisive factor in creating the conditions necessary for the success of the negotiations, explaining that Doha, through its balanced relations with all parties and its long experience in crisis management, was able to create an atmosphere of mutual trust that helped bridge differences and overcome many of the obstacles that had hindered understandings over the past years.
For his part, former Jordanian parliamentarian Dr. Mohammed Al Akour affirmed that the anticipated agreement between the United States and Iran represents an important development in the management of regional crises and reflects a growing conviction among international parties that dialogue and diplomacy remain the most effective means of addressing complex issues and avoiding the consequences of escalation on the region's security and stability.
Al Akour told QNA that what distinguishes this agreement is that it comes at a highly sensitive regional and international stage, giving it dimensions that go beyond bilateral relations between Washington and Tehran to become an indication of the possibility of building new approaches based on understanding and negotiation rather than confrontation.
He noted that the agreement's success could help reduce regional tensions and open the door to addressing other priority issues for the countries of the region.
Al Akour emphasized that the role played by the State of Qatar throughout the negotiation process reflects remarkable diplomatic maturity and an ability to build bridges of trust between different parties.
He explained that Doha has succeeded over the years in consolidating its position as a trusted mediator with balanced relations and high credibility among various regional and international powers.
He pointed out that the success of Qatar's mediation in bringing the American and Iranian sides closer together adds to a cumulative record of Qatari efforts aimed at supporting regional stability and enhancing opportunities for the peaceful settlement of disputes, stressing that this approach reflects a strategic vision based on investing in dialogue and preventive diplomacy as two fundamental pillars for achieving security and development.
Al Akour stressed that the region today stands before an important opportunity to transform this understanding into a sustainable process that contributes to strengthening regional stability and creating a more favorable environment for economic and political cooperation, with positive implications for the peoples of the region and their aspirations for development and prosperity.
The Jordanian analysts concluded their remarks to QNA by affirming that the anticipated Geneva agreement carries dimensions that go beyond the bilateral framework of U.S.-Iranian relations, serving as a message of hope for the region and the world that dialogue and diplomacy remain capable of achieving major political breakthroughs.
They stressed that Qatar's role in making this process successful further enhances Doha's position as an international hub for dialogue and a trusted mediator in efforts to promote peace and consolidate security and stability at both the regional and international levels. (QNA)
