Doha, February 27 (QNA) - The Social and Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM) has signed a funding agreement with the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) to support the 2026 Nishan Ramadan Shooting championship. The championship will take place from 27 February to 8 March 2026 at the Lusail Shooting Complex, under this year's theme, "Ramadan of Challenge".

Under the agreement, DAAM will provide the necessary financial support for the championship, including prize money totaling up to QAR 500,000, in collaboration with the Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation, the organizing body of the event.

This agreement underscores the pioneering role played by DAAM, along with the contributing and listed companies on the Qatar Stock Exchange, in supporting sports tournaments and community activities, in alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030.

The Nishan Ramadan Championship is held annually under the patronage of HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani. The championship features competitions in air rifle, air pistol, archery, as well as shotgun and skeet events.

The 2026 edition, as with the previous year, will expand participation categories to include the senior category, offering broader opportunities for athletes of different ages and skill levels, and further strengthening the championship's community-oriented character.

This year's championship is expected to witness strong participation from both amateur and professional shooters in highly competitive events aimed at reinforcing national identity and promoting community values rooted in Qatar's sporting heritage.

Since its inception in 2010, DAAM has launched numerous vital projects and initiatives across cultural, social, sports, and charitable sectors. (QNA)
