Egyptian Foreign Minister, Senior US Presidential Advisor Discuss Developments in Sudan
Cairo, February 27 (QNA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelaaty discussed with Senior Advisor to the US President for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos the latest developments in Sudan and ways to support efforts to restore stability in the country during a phone call on Friday.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated in a press release that Abdelaaty briefed the US official on Egypt's regional and international efforts to support Sudan, noting in this context Egypt's chairmanship of the African Union Peace and Security Council ministerial meeting on the situation in Sudan.
Abdelaaty emphasized Egypt's rejection of any attempts to undermine Sudan's unity or territorial integrity, stressing the need to preserve Sudanese sovereignty and support its institutions.
He also stressed the importance of continuing intensive efforts within the framework of the Quartet.
For his part, the US official stressed his country's keenness to continue consultation and coordination with Egypt in order to support efforts to calm tensions and enhance the chances of reaching a sustainable political settlement in Sudan. (QNA)
