Arab League Underscores Importance of Addressing Antecedents of Regional Crises
Cairo, November 02 (QNA) - The Arab League has argued that dealing with crises unfolding in the region requires remediation for their antecedents, foremost of which are the impotent institutions and the accumulated political and socioeconomic challenges.
Speaking at the third Cairo Forum, Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy outlined the foremost challenges engulfing the Arab region, avenues for strengthening security and stability, and the role of joint Arab action in tackling regional and international transformations.
It is quite essential to shift from managing the fallout from crises to pursuing a proactive approach that precludes the resurgence of these crises, Fahmy underlined, noting that the Palestinian cause is a real test of the credence of the international order amid the persistent double standards and Israeli violations of the international rules-based order.
This occupation must end and the independent Palestinian state must be established, Fahmy stressed, pointing out that what matters most now is to maintain the unity of Arab nations, as well as their sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He remarked that the concept of Arab security isn't confined to military considerations but includes as well the political, socioeconomic and development dimensions.
In this respect, he addressed the crises and instability unfolding in many Arab nations, reemphasizing the importance of reinforcing cooperation and integration among Arab nations and creating balanced relationships with neighbors based on respect for sovereignty, non-interference in those nations' internal affairs, and fostering openness to the world on an equal footing and in pursuit of shared interests.
