GCC Secretary-General Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia's King Khalid International Airport
Riyadh, October 11 (QNA) - Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, condemned in the strongest terms the attacks launched by the Houthi group on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
In a statement issued Saturday, Albudaiwi said the repeated targeting of the civilian facility reflected a criminal approach aimed at terrorizing civilians and endangering the lives of passengers and airport workers, in flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.
He stressed that such attacks, and the targeting of civilian airports, represented a highly dangerous escalation that threatened civil aviation safety and required firm international action to deter Houthi attacks.
The secretary-general affirmed that GCC member states stood united with Saudi Arabia and fully supported all measures it takes to protect its security and sovereignty and ensure the safety of its citizens and residents.
He emphasized that Saudi Arabia's security is an integral part of the security of all GCC states, adding that any threat to the kingdom affects the entire Gulf security system. (QNA)
