French League: Paris Saint-Germain Beat Le Mans as Monaco Regain Top Spot
Paris, October 10 (QNA) - Paris Saint-Germain defeated visiting Le Mans 3-1 on Saturday in the sixth round of the French football league, while Monaco remained atop the standings despite a 2-2 draw at home against Toulouse.
Brazilian defender Lucas Beraldo opened the scoring for Paris Saint-Germain from the penalty spot in the 19th minute at the Parc des Princes, before Louis Mafouta equalized for Le Mans in the 55th minute.
The Parisian side regained the lead six minutes later through Georgian forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Maghnes Akliouche added a third goal in the 68th minute, while Désiré Doué missed a penalty in the third minute of stoppage time.
The victory lifted Paris Saint-Germain to fifth place with 11 points, marking its third win of the season, alongside two draws and one defeat. Le Mans remained on six points in 12th place after suffering its second loss.
In another match, Monaco drew 2-2 with visiting Toulouse to retain top spot with 14 points.
Edan Diop and Matthis Abline scored for Monaco in the 29th and 38th minutes, respectively, while Casper Tengstedt pulled one back for Toulouse from the penalty spot in the 48th minute. Sion Oppong equalized for the visitors in the 59th minute.
Monaco had reclaimed the lead from Lille, which had temporarily moved to the top after beating visiting Le Havre 1-0. The victory took Lille to 13 points in second place, while Toulouse remained on six points in 13th.
Elsewhere in the same round, Brest beat visiting Angers 5-1, while Lorient defeated visiting Paris FC 1-0.
The sixth round concludes Sunday with three matches: Nice against Strasbourg, Rennes against Auxerre, and Troyes AC against Marseille. (QNA)
