Bahrain Condemns Attack on King Khalid International Airport, Reaffirms Full Support for Saudi Arabia
Manama, October 10 (QNA) - Bahrain has strongly condemned attacks carried out by the Houthi group against Saudi Arabia, including the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, saying repeated targeting of the airport represents a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability.
In a statement, Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attacks constituted a flagrant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, as well as an unacceptable escalation that threatens regional security and stability and endangers international civil aviation, passengers and flight crews. It added that the attacks also violated the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation and resolutions of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
Bahrain reaffirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures the kingdom takes to safeguard its security and stability and protect its citizens and residents. It also affirmed Saudi Arabia's inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, in line with member states' obligations under the Gulf Cooperation Council's Joint Defense Agreement. The statement stressed that Saudi Arabia's security is an integral part of the security of all GCC member states.
Bahrain's Foreign Ministry also called on the UN Security Council, the International Civil Aviation Organization and the international community to take firm action to halt attacks targeting civilians and civilian facilities, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure the implementation of relevant international resolutions, particularly Resolutions 2216 and 2817, to safeguard regional and international peace and security.
