Doha, January 03 (QNA) - The global oncology platform OncoDaily has named HE Chairman of the Qatar Cancer Society (QCS), Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Jabr Al-Thani, among the Top 100 Most Influential Figures in Oncology for 2025.

This came in a high-level international recognition demonstrating the advanced position of the State of Qatar in cancer control efforts on the regional and global stages.

This selection highlights the growing global influence of Qatari healthcare leadership in shaping health policies and developing oncology services in accordance with international best practices.

It also underscores the vital role of QCS as an effective national model in patient support, community awareness, and the establishment of strategic local and international partnerships, contributing to Qatar's presence on global oncology platforms and fostering opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange with international institutions and organizations.

On this occasion, HE Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Jabr Al-Thani expressed his profound pride in the recognition, affirming that it represents an acknowledgment of collective national efforts in cancer control rather than an individual accomplishment.

He stated: "This international recognition reflects the confidence of the global medical community in Qatar's integrated healthcare approach, which focuses on prevention, early detection, and advanced treatment, placing the patient at the center of care, supported by our wise leadership that prioritizes human health".

He added: "We regard this honor as a doubled responsibility that motivates us to continue our work, further develop our programs and services, and strengthen national and international partnerships to ensure comprehensive and sustainable support for cancer patients, survivors, and their families, while improving their quality of life during treatment and after recovery".

Founded in 1997 as a charitable organization under the supervision of the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities, QCS represents a key national pillar in Qatar's cancer control ecosystem.

In essence, QCS operates with a clear vision of a cancer-aware community and a better life for those affected by the disease and a humanitarian mission based on donations and community partnerships to provide awareness programs, financial, psychosocial, and community support for patients, survivors, and their families, in addition to contributing to professional development and scientific research in oncology.

It translated this vision into concrete achievements in 2025, including supporting approximately 1,750 adult and pediatric patients receiving care at the National Center for Cancer Care and Research and Sidra Medicine at an estimated cost of QAR 49 million.

In psychosocial support, 1,200 individuals benefited directly from community-based programs, while over 40,000 indirect beneficiaries were reached through digital platforms, in addition to 50 survivors receiving specialized one-on-one psychological support.

Sustainable programs included initiatives such as "Our Children Are Gold" for pediatric patients, "Your Smile is Our Life" for adults, "I Am Recovered, and Here's My Story", and "Together We Can", alongside hospital visit programs.

Awareness campaigns in 2025 reached over 6,659,500 indirect beneficiaries through digital channels, as well as 18,950 direct participants through workshops, educational programs, and field awareness activities across Qatar.

In efforts to enhance professional development and support scientific research in oncology, the total number of beneficiaries reached 16,248, reflecting a pivotal role in strengthening competencies, advancing research and development, and contributing to sustainable professional development goals.

At the level of partnerships and institutional achievements, the Society recorded significant milestones in 2025, including winning the Qatar Social Responsibility Award 2025, securing the rights to host the global Relay for Life event.

This is alongside establishing 17 strategic partnerships with governmental and private entities, and implementing more than 80 awareness initiatives in collaboration with schools, universities, and various institutions. (QNA)
