Doha, September 08 (QNA) - The Public Prosecution, in cooperation with the EU Delegation in Doha, has organized a training workshop on regulatory frameworks and practices in the digital age.

HE Attorney General Dr. Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi inaugurated the two-day event, in the presence of HE Ambassador of the EU to Qatar Dr. Cristian Tudor.

In his opening remarks, HE Tudor highlighted the EU's partnership with Qatar in addressing the urgent challenges of the digital era. He emphasized the Union's commitment to upholding the rule of law, protecting rights and freedoms online, and guiding technological innovation responsibly.

This partnership is a vital step to ensure that digital progress serves the public good, he stated.

The workshop, led by a group of international digital governance experts from the European University Institute, aims to deepen mutual understanding of regulatory challenges in the digital sphere, encourage experience-sharing between Qatari and European institutions, and explore policy tools and practical approaches to safeguard digital rights.

Participants will also review real-world case studies to strengthen national capacities and reinforce core human rights principles in the digital environment—such as freedom of expression, privacy protection, and non-discrimination—as outlined in the United Nations Global Digital Compact.

The event comes at a critical time, as rapid digital advancement continues to present complex legal and regulatory challenges, including the spread of disinformation, privacy constraints, and increased surveillance mechanisms.

Organizers stress the need for continuous regulatory updates to build effective digital justice systems and ensure technology is used to benefit individuals and society.

Attending the workshop are representatives from several Qatari institutions, including the Public Prosecution, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Supreme Judiciary Council, and the National Cyber Security Agency. (QNA
