2026 World Cup African Qualifiers: Tunisia Qualifies for Finals for Seventh Time
African capitals, September 08 (QNA) - Tunisia qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals, defeating Equatorial Guinea 1-0 in a match held as part of the eighth round of African qualifiers.
Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane scored the only goal in stoppage time (90+4’), cementing Tunisia’s top position in Group H with 22 points.
This marks the seventh time Tunisia reached the World Cup finals, having previously participated in 1978, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2018, and 2022.
Tunisia becomes the third Arab team to secure a spot in the upcoming World Cup, following Jordan and Morocco.
Meanwhile, Morocco, already qualified for the finals, continued its impressive run in the 2026 qualifiers by defeating hosts Zambia 2-0.
Youssef En-Nesyri and Hamza Ekman scored Morocco’s two goals in the 7th and 37th minutes of the match.
Morocco had already secured its World Cup qualification in the previous round with a 5-0 win over Niger, bringing its total to 21 points and placing it at the top of Group E.
