Doha, March 18 (QNA) - The Ministry of Labour, represented by the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking (NCCHT), launched the National Plan to Combat Human Trafficking 2024–2026.

The plan seeks to unify national efforts among governmental institutions and civil society organizations to tackle and confront every form and manifestation of human trafficking and establish effective mechanisms for its eradication whenever indicators of its existence arise. It further aims to adopt measures to prevent human trafficking, prosecute offenders, protect victims, and lay the groundwork for robust national, regional, and international collaboration.

The plan is structured around four principal pillars. The first focuses on prevention and precautionary measures, strengthening legal frameworks, national policies, and practical strategies to curb human trafficking and combat all associated forms of exploitation. The second addresses protection and humanitarian assistance, ensuring that mechanisms and resources are in place to safeguard victims, support their recovery and reintegration, and uphold their rights without the risk of further exploitation.

The third pillar highlights prosecution, requiring the thorough investigation and prosecution of perpetrators, alongside the imposition of more stringent penalties for those found guilty of trafficking offenses. Lastly, the fourth pillar emphasizes national, regional, and international cooperation, reinforcing partnerships with relevant entities to bolster collective efforts against human trafficking.

The launch of the National Plan to Combat Human Trafficking reaffirms the State of Qatar’s steadfast commitment to eradicating such crimes, in line with the principles of Islamic law, the constitution, and national legislation, all of which strictly prohibit any infringement upon human dignity and uphold the respect and preservation of human rights.
