Beirut, December 16 (QNA) – HE Minister of Public Works and Transport of the Republic of Lebanon Fayez Rasamny praised the strong Qatari-Lebanese ties, and expressed deep appreciation for Qatar's continued support of Lebanon's public transport sector.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of a ceremony marking the handover of buses donated by Qatar's Ministry of Transport to Lebanon's Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the Minister described the donation as a significant contribution to strengthening public transportation in the country.

He emphasized the importance of enhancing public transport, noting its role in reducing transportation costs for Lebanese citizens and restoring public confidence in state institutions.

HE the Minister highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in developing the sector, pointing out that the main need is the availability of buses. He extended his gratitude to the State of Qatar for donating 30 buses to support public transport in Lebanon.

He also revealed a plan to improve the public transport network by connecting Beirut with all Lebanese regions and governorates, including the introduction of electric buses to help reduce pollution in the capital.

In conclusion, HE the Minister stressed that Qatar has gone beyond goodwill, turning its words into action and its ideas into reality. He noted that approximately 7,000 passengers use public transportation in Lebanon each day. (QNA)
