Ministry of Municipality to Organize Recycling Towards Sustainability Conference, Exhibition on June 25-26

Doha, June 18 (QNA) - The Ministry of Municipality announced that it will organize the fifth edition of the Recycling Towards Sustainability Conference and Exhibition 2025, under the patronage of HE Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, on June 25-26 at Raffles Doha Hotel.

This year's edition, which will be held under the theme 'From Waste to Wealth,' will see broad participation from governmental and semi-governmental entities, private sector institutions, and local factories, in addition to several international organizations and experts specializing in waste management.

During a press conference held today to announce the event's details, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality Eng. Abdullah Ahmed Al Karani said that organizing the conference and exhibition annually reflects the ministry's commitment to promoting a culture of recycling and providing sustainable solutions that meet the nation's aspirations.

He also stressed that the fifth edition comes within the framework of the State of Qatar's growing interest in adopting responsible environmental practices that contribute to building a more sustainable future.

For his part, Director of the Waste Recycling and Treatment Department at the Ministry of Municipality Eng. Hamad Jassim Al Bahr noted that this year's edition will focus on showcasing the latest technologies and practices in waste management. It will also promote the concept of a circular economy, highlight the importance of expanding the use of recycled materials, and encourage public-private partnerships to launch innovative recycling and sustainability initiatives, in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, he added.

He pointed out that this edition will feature more than 35 speakers, including senior local and international officials and experts, as well as representatives from companies and institutions operating in this vital sector, noting that the conference will address several key topics, including waste treatment projects, recycling of demolition and construction waste, extended producer and supplier responsibility, and the role of education and academic research in supporting recycling efforts, among other topics.

Al Bahr said that the conference will also be accompanied by an exhibition featuring more than 40 exhibitors from the public and private sectors, including the Ministry of Municipality, several government agencies, specialized companies and factories, as well as individual and community initiatives in the field of waste sorting and recycling.

For her part, Director of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Municipality Dr. Fayqa Abdullah Ashkanani said that her department has prepared a comprehensive media plan to promote the conference across national media outlets and social media platforms. The department also launched a website dedicated for the event, providing registration and general information, as well as an archive of previous editions, she added, pointing out that the conference will feature the participation of several leading countries in the field of recycling, who will showcase their successful experiences and expertise in this field.

The Ministry of Municipality's pavilion will feature visual awareness presentations highlighting the ministry's achievements in the field of recycling, and calling on individuals and institutions to actively contribute to reducing waste and enhancing the utilization of recycled resources. (QNA)
