Brussels, September 09 (QNA) - European stock indices opened lower on Wednesday, weighed down by the continued rise in energy prices caused by tensions in West Asia, as the price of Brent crude approaches USD 100 a barrel.

In the major European markets, France's CAC 40 index on the Paris Stock Exchange fell by 0.66 percent, while Germany's DAX index in Frankfurt declined by 0.43 percent.

Meanwhile, Italy's MIB index on the Milan Stock Exchange fell by 0.37 percent, while the UK's FTSE 100 index in London declined by 0.27 percent. (QNA)
