Qatar Charity Lays Foundation for Rehabilitation Village in Mauritania
Nouakchott, October 28 (QNA) - Qatar Charity (QC), in collaboration with Mauritania's Ministry of Social Action, Childhood and Family, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the rehabilitation and training village for children with disabilities in the Dar Naim district of Nouakchott, in a step toward strengthening social protection and upholding the rights of persons with disabilities.
In a statement Wednesday, QC said the project aims to provide an integrated educational and rehabilitation environment that ensures care for children with disabilities, develops their abilities, and equips them with the skills required for their active and direct inclusion in community life.
The ceremony was attended by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Social Action, Childhood and Family in Mauritania, Hamoudi Cheikhna Ali; HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Mauritania, Shaheen bin Ali Al Kaabi; Director of Development Operations at QC, Ibrahim Abdulrahman Al Janahi; and Director of the Charity's office in Mauritania, Eng. Omer Abdelaziz.
Al Janahi said QC believes that investing in people is the most valuable and sustainable form of investment, noting its commitment to implementing initiatives that help improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable groups and support the efforts of governments and national institutions to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development.
The project is an outgrowth of a partnership and cooperation between QC and Mauritania's Ministry of Social Action, Childhood and Family, Al Janahi highlighted, adding that it reflects a shared vision aimed at providing top-flight services for persons with disabilities, strengthening their rights, and empowering them to integrate into society.
Omer Abdelaziz, for his part, said the village represents an integrated development facility that will enable persons with disabilities and their families to benefit from rehabilitation, education, training, and care services in an ideal environment that develops their abilities and strengthens their inclusion and engagement in society.
He hoped that the project would serve as a model for care, rehabilitation, and community inclusion and leave an enduring positive impact on the lives of children with disabilities.
HE Al Kaabi said the project underscores the strength of the brotherly relations between the two countries and their commitment to promoting solidarity and supporting people, particularly groups that need greater care, support, and empowerment.
Cheikhna Ali said the project marks another step-in cooperation with QC, adding that it contributes to strengthening social protection and supporting vulnerable groups, while demonstrating a commitment to child welfare, advancing the rights of persons with disabilities, and reinforcing solidarity, fairness, and equal opportunities.
