European Stocks Close at Record High
Brussels, January 9 (QNA) - European stocks closed at a record high Friday, boosted by a strong surge in Glencore shares, which helped push the Stoxx 600 index to its longest weekly winning streak since last May.
Glencore shares jumped 10 percent, helping the Stoxx 600 index climb 1 percent.
Technology stocks led the Stoxx 600's gains during the day, posting their best weekly performance in nearly two years.
Shares of Dutch chip equipment maker ASML rose 6.8 percent and were the biggest gainers in the technology index after HSBC raised its price target on the stock.
Shares of German company Infineon rose 2.4 percent, while STMicroelectronics shares climbed 2.9 percent. (QNA)
