Death Toll of Venezuela's Earthquakes Rises to 2,954
Caracas, July 04 (QNA) - The death toll from the twin devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24 has risen to 2,954, with more than 16,000 people injured, according to the latest official figures.
Local sources said thousands of people remain missing following the twin earthquakes, which measured more than 7.0 in magnitude and caused the collapse of dozens of residential complexes, most of them in the coastal state of La Guaira, north of the capital, Caracas.
According to United Nations estimates, about 50,000 people remain unaccounted for as search-and-rescue operations continue in hopes of finding additional survivors. (QNA)
