Ramallah, December 31 (QNA) - The Palestinian foreign ministry has condemned large-scale Israeli demolition operations and forced displacement in the Nur Shams refugee camp, east of the city of Tulkarm, in the occupied West Bank.

In a statement issued in Ramallah on Wednesday, the ministry said the actions were part of a systematic Israeli policy aimed at emptying refugee camps, undermining the foundations of the Palestinian cause, and destroying Palestinian social cohesion and ties to the land.

The ministry said the demolitions and forced evictions constituted a serious violation of international law and basic human rights, describing them as an additional crime against Palestinian refugees. It said the measures represented a continuation of the Nakba — the mass displacement of Palestinians that began in 1948 — which it said had never ended.

According to the statement, Israeli forces continue to impose a tight siege on refugee camps in the Tulkarm area. It said 25 buildings were demolished on Tuesday alone in the Nur Shams camp, leading to the forced displacement of about 100 families in a single day.

The Palestinian foreign ministry called on the international community and human rights organizations to act immediately to halt the demolitions, protect civilians and their homes, ensure the unhindered operation of humanitarian organizations, and hold those responsible to account. (QNA)
