Explosion at Residential Building Kills One, Injures 14 Others in Southern Iran
Tehran, January 31 (QNA) - A four-year-old girl was killed, and 14 others were injured Saturday in an explosion at a residential building in Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan Province, southern Iran.
Iranian Mehr News Agency cited Mehrdad Hassanzadeh, Director-General of the Crisis Management Department in Hormozgan, saying that the explosion resulted in the death of a four-year-old girl and injuries to 14 people, some of whom received on-site medical treatment, while others were transported to hospitals.
He stated that official investigations are ongoing to determine the final causes of the explosion.
Meanwhile, Head of the Fire Department in Bandar Abbas, Mohammad Amin Liaghat, told local media that the initial assessment indicates a gas leak as the probable cause of the explosion, affirming that technical examinations are ongoing to determine the final causes.
Official media reported that the damaged building consists of eight floors, with the explosion entirely destroying two floors and causing serious damage to several other floors, in addition to affecting more than ten vehicles and one store in the surrounding area.
Footage broadcast by Iranian state television showed extensive facade destruction and debris scattered across the street, while firefighting, rescue, and ambulance teams rushed to the site, initiating search operations under the rubble, securing the area, and transporting the injured to medical facilities.
