Three Children Killed, Two Injured in Landmine Explosion Northwestern Syria
Damascus, April 03 (QNA) - Three children were killed, and two others injured Friday when a landmine, a remnant of war, exploded inside an unusable school in the town of Al Habit in the southern Idlib countryside of northwestern Syria.
The Idlib Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate reported that its Civil Defense teams responded to a report of the explosion.
The teams rescued the injured and transported them to nearby hospitals. The directorate noted that five children were initially treated, but three died, while the other two received treatment for their injuries.
Syria faces the problem of war remnants, including landmines and unexploded ordnance, scattered across vast areas of the country.
These remnants cause fatal accidents and serious injuries, and hinder agricultural and economic activities, as well as the return of residents to their homes. Specialized teams continue their efforts to detect and remove these remnants. (QNA)
