Doha, September 30 (QNA) - The Qatar International Court (QICDRC), in collaboration with LexisNexis Middle East, convened a panel discussion on QICDRC’s new regulations, procedural rules, and case updates.

The panel examined the salient amendments made to Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) Law No. 7 of 2005, enacted in December 2024, while also addressing the court’s updated regulations and procedural rules, which came into force in June 2025.

The updated regulations included a whole raft of crucial amendments, foremost among them the adoption of a national address system, the clarification of the court’s subject-matter jurisdiction, and Practice Direction No. 1 of 2025 on appeals, as well as a mechanism for issuing default judgments.

The panelists deliberated on the impact of these updates on the efficiency of proceedings before the court and on its role in advancing judicial practice while reinforcing the guarantees of prompt justice.

They also weighed in on the amendments to QFC Law, particularly the introduction of court fees and the shortening of appellate filing deadlines, with these amendments intended to streamline judicial proceedings and curb frivolous litigation.

In addition, the panelists discussed the implications of these amendments on lawsuits lodged with the court, aiming to clarify them for those participating in the panel, especially legal practitioners appearing before the court.

Commenting on the panel, Case Manager at the QICDRC, Mohammed Alansari, said today’s discussion constituted an opportunity to deliberate on the key amendments made to QFC Law, along with the court's amended regulations and procedures issued in June 2025.

These amendments represent a landmark development for the Court, reinforcing the efficiency of its procedures and the quality of services it delivers to litigants and the public at large.

It is hoped that the discussions provided comprehensive and practical guidance to all participants, whether attorneys admitted to practice before the Court or representatives of the broader legal community, Alansari added.

Accordingly, QICDRC underscored its indefatigable commitment to promoting public legal awareness and addressing all emerging legislation and laws of relevance. (QNA)
