Japan's Nikkei Gains 1.08%
Tokyo, October 28 (QNA) - Japan's Nikkei share average climbed on Wednesday, extending its winning streak to a second session as strong earnings from South Korean chipmaker SK Hynix reinforced optimism over demand for artificial intelligence-related chips.
The Nikkei 225 rose 1.08% to close at 63,954.19, supported by technology stocks, while the broader Topix index slipped 0.14% to 3,991.71.
Investor sentiment was buoyed by SK Hynix's announcement that its third-quarter operating profit had surged more than sevenfold year-on-year to a record 83.33 trillion won. The company also outlined a shareholder-return plan worth about 100 trillion won ($75 billion) for 2026, including dividends and share repurchases. The news helped drive South Korea's Kospi up 6.63%.
