5.2-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Philippines
Manila, January 21 (QNA) – An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck Sagay City in the central Philippines Wednesday.
The US Geological Survey reported that the epicenter was located 31 km from Sagay City, at a depth of 9.8 km.
The Philippines is prone to volcanic and seismic activity due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire where tectonic plates meet.
In October 2013, a devastating 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck the country, killing more than 220 people. (QNA)
