Five Killed in Israeli Strikes on Southern Lebanon
Beirut, June 20 (QNA) - Israeli aircraft launched renewed intense airstrikes and artillery shelling on the city of Nabatieh and surrounding towns in southern Lebanon, killing at least five people and causing widespread damage to residential areas.
The Lebanese News Agency reported that three people were killed after Israeli forces carried out a two-wave strike targeting the town of Arabsalim.
An Israeli drone also carried out a strike on a motorcycle at the eastern entrance of the town of Al Dweir, killing one person.
At the same time, other Israeli strikes targeted the town of Deir Al Zahrani, killing another person.
Meanwhile, the Al Rous neighborhood in the town of Al Nmeiriyeh was hit by a heavy airstrike that destroyed several homes, while additional strikes targeted the towns of Shoukine and Haboush.
The strikes also included the towns of Zibdin and Sajd, as well as Al Mahmoudiya farm near Al Aishiyah. Israeli aircraft continued flying over the area as concerns grew over a rise in the death toll amid ongoing search-and-rescue operations and the removal of rubble.
Lebanon witnessed a broad military escalation on Friday that extended from the south to the Bekaa region in the northeast. A series of heavy Israeli airstrikes killed 47 people and wounded 97 others, most of them in villages around Nabatieh, according to figures from Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health. (QNA)
