Heavy Rains, Floods Sweep Through Several Governorates in Tunisia.. Classes Suspended
Tunis, January 20 (QNA) – Tunisian authorities announced the suspension of classes Tuesday in several governorates due to heavy rains and flooding that swept through residential areas and main roads.
Several neighborhoods in the northern suburbs near the capital, Tunis, and other areas in the northeast of the country were flooded. Authorities raised the risk level to "high alert" in the capital, as well as in Ben Arous, Manouba, Ariana, Bizerte in the north, and Nabeul. The central governorates of Sousse and Monastir were also placed under "high alert".
Tunisian meteorological agencies predicted that the rains would continue until Tuesday, with water levels expected to exceed 120 millimeters in several areas. (QNA)
