Muscat, December 18 (QNA) - The Sultanate of Oman and India on Thursday signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, aimed at strengthening bilateral trade and investment cooperation, facilitating the movement of goods and services, and expanding cooperation in vital sectors including energy, technology, and manufacturing. The signing took place on the sidelines of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

In a joint statement, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, emphasizing that it represents a significant step in bilateral economic relations. They stated that the agreement will create opportunities in major economic sectors, boost economic growth, and increase investment flows between the two countries.

Both sides expressed their interest in exploring investment opportunities in priority sectors of mutual interest, including infrastructure, technology, manufacturing, food security, logistics, hospitality, and others.

They noted that, given the successful track record of the Oman-India Joint Investment Fund, there is significant potential to enhance and facilitate investments.

They also expressed their keenness to strengthen their partnerships to enhance cooperation in the energy sector, including collaboration on exploration and production opportunities in India and globally, and cooperation in new and renewable energy, particularly in the areas of green ammonia and green hydrogen.

The Indian Prime Minister wrapped his two-day official visit to the Sultanate of Oman this evening. (QNA)
