Kuwait Submits Second Formal Complaint to ICAO Over Iranian Violations
Kuwait, June 07 (QNA) - Kuwait announced on Sunday that it had submitted a second formal letter of protest to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regarding the Iranian violations and attacks on the country's sovereignty through breaches of its airspace and facilities at Kuwait International Airport, and the resulting serious implications for civil aviation safety and security.
In a statement, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said the incidents constituted a serious and flagrant violation of international conventions and agreements governing civil aviation and posed a direct threat to the safety of passengers, airlines and personnel at Kuwait International Airport, as well as to the airport's vital facilities and infrastructure.
The authority stressed the need for ICAO to take urgent and decisive measures to protect civilian airspace and facilities, prevent the recurrence of such violations and hold those responsible accountable in accordance with international law and internationally recognized civil aviation safety and security standards.
It added that Kuwait reserves all of its rights under international law to take any measures it deems appropriate to safeguard its sovereignty, security, airspace and civilian facilities, and to ensure the safety of travelers, employees and facilities associated with Kuwait International Airport.
