Cairo, December 18 (QNA) - The General Secretariat of the Arab League organized today an event to mark World Arabic Language Day under the theme: "Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers: Context and Achievements."

In a statement, the Arab League explained that the event was held in celebration of World Arabic Language Day and in commemoration of the anniversary of United Nations General Assembly Resolution No. 3190, which adopted Arabic as an official international language.

The celebration highlighted the Arabic language as a historical legacy, a living means of communication, and a form of soft power capable of embracing diverse cultures and building bridges of understanding among peoples. The event was attended by a select group of ambassadors and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions.

The event addressed four main themes focused on envisioning the future of the Arabic language. These included a review of the landscape of Arabic language education in universities and international centers; an examination of the key challenges facing non-native learners of Arabic and ways to overcome them; the role of artificial intelligence and digital transformation in facilitating the learning and dissemination of Arabic; and the leading initiatives undertaken by Arab institutions -foremost among them the King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language- to promote the international spread of the Arabic language.
