Arab League Welcomes Yemen Prisoner Swap Deal
Cairo, May 15 (QNA) - The Arab League welcomed the agreement signed in Amman on Thursday for the exchange of prisoners, abductees, and detainees in Yemen involving the release of 1,750 individuals.
Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said the deal is an important humanitarian step that could ease the suffering of many families and pave the way for a broader exchange agreement based on the principle of all for all.
He also praised the efforts of Oman, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UN envoy to Yemen, and the International Committee of the Red Cross in reaching the agreement, stressing the importance of fully implementing it according to the agreed timeline and mechanism. (QNA)
