4-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Dead Sea in Jordan
Amman, January 15 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 4 on the Richter scale struck the Dead Sea region of Jordan.
The Jordan Seismological Observatory (JSO), affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, recorded the earthquake Thursday at a magnitude of 4 on the Richter scale and a depth of 17 km.
The Dead Sea and Gulf of Aqaba region in southern Jordan experiences ongoing seismic activity that often goes unnoticed. However, the Aqaba earthquake of November 1995, measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale, remains the most powerful in the country's history. (QNA)
