5.1-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Hawaii
Washington, August 12 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck southeast of Naalehu, Hawaii.
The US Geological Survey reported that the quake occurred 45 kilometers off Naalehu, at a depth of 7.2 kilometers.
Hawaii lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity that can be strong at times. It is also home to the active volcanic mountain, Kilauea. (QNA)
