Biden Extends Sanctions against Russia for One Year
Washington, March 02 (QNA) - US President Joe Biden has notified the US Congress that he is extending sanctions against Russia for another year.
According to the White House, Biden sent a "Message to the Congress on the Continuation of the National Emergency with Respect to Ukraine".
"The actions and policies of the Government of the Russian Federation, including its purported annexation of Crimea and its use of force in Ukraine, continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States," the message reads.
President Biden added that he had "determined that it is necessary to continue the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13660 with respect to Ukraine."
The United States imposed a range of sanctions against Russia due to its military operation in Ukraine. (QNA)
