Doha, December 02 (QNA) - German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed regret over Germany's early exit from the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

"The chancellor, like all football fans in Germany, is saddened that the Germany national team has not advanced," deputy government spokesperson Wolfgang Buchner said on Friday.

He said that Scholz wrote Germany coach Hansi Flick a "friendly message" on Thursday evening and sent "warm greetings" to the players.

Germany defeated Costa Rica, but both teams said goodbye to the World Cup as Japan and Spain qualified for the last 16 after Japan's 2-1 win. (QNA)
