Doha, November 20 (QNA) - Ecuador coach Gustavo Alfaro expressed satisfaction at his team's victory over the host Qatar in the opening match of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 today.

"I have to give the team credit for their attitude, commitment, the way they played, the way they kept going," said coach Alfaro at the press conference following the match, noting that beating the Qatari team was not easy.

He added that the Ecuadorian national team was more focused in the match, scoring two goals and winning.

The coach hoped that his captain, Enner Valencia, would recover from injury and catch up before the Netherlands match.

For his part, Ener Valencia, the captain of the Ecuadorian national team and the best player in the match, expressed happiness with his team's victory today, saying that the players were more keen to have a significant kick off to their world cup campaign.
