Doha, November 15 (QNA) - The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) officially inaugurated The Host Country Media Centre (HCMC) for covering the activities of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, in the city of Msheireb, the heart of Doha.

The center will provide services and facilities to thousands of media representatives, to broadcast the events of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which will start next Sunday.

The SCs Communications & Media Executive Director, Fatma Al Nuaimi, expressed her happiness at the opening of the center, welcoming media representatives from different countries of the world who seek to cover the competitions and events of the tournament, which is being held for the first time in the Arab world and the Middle East.

She said, in statements on the occasion, that the opening of the center comes as part of the committee's efforts to provide media representatives, including correspondents, broadcasters, and photographers, with the necessary technical support to complete their mission in covering the tournament and transmitting the accompanying events, noting that the Supreme Committee is looking forward to close cooperation with the media, from around the world to cover the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which attracts the attention of the football community and fans everywhere.

The media center provides everything media professionals need to perform their duties throughout the World Cup, as it includes many facilities, including a hall for press conferences, studios and work offices, in addition to technical support for photographers.

HCMC center operates around the clock during the tournament, and allows media professionals to follow the live broadcast of the matches on huge screens.

It will also give them the opportunity to conduct interviews with spokespersons for the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, and representatives of the relevant government agencies in the country.

The center includes a hall for press conferences that can accommodate more than 140 journalists and up to 25 locations for cameras. Press conferences will be transmitted live to media representatives present in their offices, which increases the capacity to approximately 500 media professionals. There are also four studios and one broadcast studio which will be available for broadcasters to book.

The 300 hot desks are available to media on a first-come, first-served basis. All are connected to internet to power. In addition, some computers will be available to media, while IT service desk personnel will be on hand to troubleshoot if necessary.

The HCMC also features a photographer services desk which is being delivered in collaboration with Nikon and Cannon. Maintenance services will be offered free of charge, while essential parts will be available to buy. (QNA)
