US President Announces Progress on Establishing Military Base in Poland
Washington, September 18 (QNA) - US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that significant progress had been made toward establishing a US military base in Poland.
In a post on his Truth Social, Trump attributed the progress toward establishing a US Army base in Poland to the bold leadership of Polish President Karol Nawrocki, adding that if the plan went ahead, the location would be announced very soon.
For his part, Nawrocki said in a post on X that Poland was prepared to continue its efforts to strengthen defense cooperation with the United States seriously and responsibly.
He added that he could assure that the Polish government would do everything in its power to provide the best possible location for a US Army base.
Poland, a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the European Union, announced last August that it was holding talks with the United States on establishing a permanent US base on its territory.
Around 10,000 US troops are currently stationed in Poland. (QNA)
