Doha, November 15 (QNA) - 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum on Tuesday opened the Football History in Qatar exhibition, which will run until Dec. 19 to shed light on Qatar's football journey since it started on dirt fields through the inauguration of Doha Stadium in the 1960s to be the first football grass pitch the Gulf region.

Organized in cooperation with veteran players committee of Qatar Football Association, the exhibition highlights Qatar's football history in the past 75 years.

President of the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympics and Sports Museum HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani said in remarks on occasion that the Football History in Qatar exhibition provides an opportunity to learn about the history of the game in Qatar as well as Qatari people's love of it.

For his part, Director, 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum Abdullah Yousuf Al Mulla told QNA that the exhibition gives an introductory glimpse on the history as well as the achievement of Qatari football national teams and clubs.

Former Qatari team goalkeeper Hussein Al Khawaja said the Doha Stadium brings many memories, referring to the match between Al Ahli Club and Brazil's Santos.

Yousuf Al Obeidli, one of the most important figures in the Qatari football history, said that Doha Stadium used a vibrant destination for the football community in Qatar, and a gathering venue for all Qatari clubs.

The Football History in Qatar exhibition is a cultural extension to the 'Football World' exhibition, which is currently open at 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum. (QNA)
