QU Wins First Place in IFIP Digital Twin Contest

Doha, September 08 (QNA) - Qatar University (QU) won first place in the 2026 Digital Twin Contest, organized by Working Group 5.1 of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) in Lecce, Italy. 
The university achieved this accomplishment with a research project under the title of "Digital Twin-Driven Event Based Production Rescheduling with Deep Reinforcement Learning," which demonstrates how Digital Twin technology can be combined with artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to develop more efficient and responsive solutions to challenges in manufacturing systems. 
The project also explores how production schedules can be dynamically adapted when events or disruptions occur, using a Digital Twin to represent the production environment and Deep Reinforcement Learning to identify effective rescheduling decisions. 
Under the supervision of Professor Abdelaziz Bouras, the winning team included a select group of researchers and students, along with local and international collaborators. 
This victory confirms the high quality of academic research at Qatar University and the competence of its students in representing the country on global platforms. (QNA)
