Doha, September 08 (QNA) - Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) has reaffirmed its commitment to developing its electronic services and raising awareness of the services it provides to meet the needs of customers and the contracting sector, while reinforcing its role in delivering high-quality and sustainable electricity and water services in the State of Qatar.
In this context, KAHRAMAA highlighted its ongoing efforts to raise awareness of the Advanced Water Connection Service, which enables water to be supplied to sites under construction, workers' accommodation and prefabricated facilities through existing water networks. The service provides a direct and regulated water source during the construction period, offering a safe and modern alternative to the repeated use of water tankers.
The service is part of KAHRAMAA's ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of services provided to customers, developers and contracting companies and improve operational efficiency at project sites. It provides a continuous, high-quality water supply around the clock while reducing the time, effort and costs associated with repeatedly requesting and transporting water by tanker.
The service also aims to reduce reliance on private tankers to supply the construction sector with water and limit their operational and traffic-related impacts. These include easing congestion on roads and at tanker-filling station entrances, reducing the movement of heavy vehicles in residential areas and construction sites, supporting public safety and enhancing the country's urban appearance. Beneficiaries may also convert the advanced connection into a permanent connection at a later stage, in accordance with approved procedures and regulations.
Key benefits of the Advanced Water Connection Service include providing a direct and continuous water source at project sites, organizing water requirements during the construction period, supporting business continuity, reducing daily reliance on tankers, limiting the movement of water-transport vehicles, and saving time and effort when completing projects and transitioning to permanent connections.
The service is available to contractors for equipment, facilities and supervision and execution offices at project sites serving construction works for buildings and facilities covered by approved building permits. It also applies to prefabricated buildings and facilities covered by approved building permits, prefabricated facilities that have obtained a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the relevant municipality, prefabricated workers' accommodation, and cabins such as prefabricated mosques, in addition to other sites, buildings and facilities determined or approved by the competent department.
Individuals, companies and developers can apply for the service electronically through KAHRAMAA's website by accessing e-services, selecting the Advanced Water Connection Service, completing the required information, attaching the necessary documents and submitting the request for follow-up. KAHRAMAA encouraged those wishing to benefit from the service to submit their applications early to ensure that procedures are completed and the connection is ready on time, avoiding delays that could affect work progress at project sites.
The service aligns with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, which seeks to achieve sustainable and balanced development by developing reliable infrastructure, improving the efficiency of resource management and adopting sustainable practices that support quality of life and protect the environment. It also contributes to the environmental pillar of the vision by promoting the regulated use of water networks and reducing tanker movement and its associated traffic, operational and environmental impacts.
